t’s already the month of May, which is mental health awareness month. America has a big problem with depression, anxiety, suicide, low self-esteem, and other mental health issues. Suicide is the tenth leading cause of death in America and over sixteen-million American adults suffer from major depression. This is a real problem that we sometimes overlook in the business of our own lives. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to write about this because I personally have felt the effects that mental health struggles can bring to a family. I lost someone that meant the world to me, someone I loved very much, because of PTSD and suicide. So today I want to take some time to tell whoever is reading this that You. Are. Loved. You are chosen. You are special. You are beautiful. You are enough. You are not alone. You are more than your mistakes. You are not the lies and hurtful labels that the world plasters on you. Jesus loves you more than all of the stars that He named and more than all the wildflowers that He made. He has a purpose for you. I hope you choose to let the One who created you be the One who defines you. I hope you see life as a gift and wake up every morning thankful to be alive. If you or someone you know is suffering from suicidal thoughts or depression, please reach out for help. Reaching out does not make you weak. If you see someone struggling, please tell someone. You could save a life. #mentalhealthawareness
